Mohelnice
Development and design in Mohelnice
Development in Mohelnice has been operating since 1994 and includes system groups for headlight and projection module development, optics development, design, simulation and project management. Our project teams sit together to share ideas and information. Testing labs are an integral part of the development process and take up 4 whole floors! We also have our own prototype workshop.
Our development also includes two specialized departments within the FORVIA HELLA world. The first is Electronics Development, which focuses on embedded hardware and software. Since 2018, we have had global responsibility for the development of rear lamp electronics. The second is the VMK department, which designs and manufactures assembly lines and specialized machines. It is also responsible for their implementation across the entire FORVIA HELLA world. See more
The great advantage is that all these interrelated departments are in one location and under one roof.
Mohelnice has excellent transport accessibility. Driving from Olomouc, including parking, takes just 25 minutes. From Zábřeh, it's a 15-minute drive, and from Šumperk, you can get there in 24 minutes via the new ring road. Regular train connections also run to Mohelnice, and it takes about 20 minutes to walk from the station. Many employees also share car rides.
Production plant
The production plant in Mohelnice was established in the early 1990s and has grown from a single production hall into a giant complex with several independent production units (Internal Factories). These units are divided based on technologies and customers, covering pre-assembly, module assembly, and headlamp assembly in series production.
Our highly automated production is filled with robots and state-of-the-art technologies. Another key aspect of our manufacturing process is the required level of cleanliness—after all, we produce decorative components. See more

Ostrava
Poruba Development Center
Since 2011, the Ostrava Development Center has been located in the Moravian-Silesian Innovation Center building not far from the Technical University of Ostrava, with which we closely cooperate.
At present, the branch has about 100 development workers who are involved in the development of headlights and rear group lamps in the field of mechanical, optical and electronic design, thus creating a unique design element of the car. Since its inception, the development center has continued to grow, providing an opportunity not only for experienced professionals, but also for graduates and students interested in the latest trends in applied electronics, optical systems development, advanced plastic parts design and other technical fields. Within each project, the development team sits together in an open-space office. See more
The development center is located in a quiet part of Ostrava - Poruba near the forest, where you can also find a workout area and seating for relaxation. There is a regular bus service to the MSIC campus (stop Studentské koleje), and as the development center is only a few kilometers from the motorway, it takes us about an hour and a quarter to get to the development center or production in Mohelnice by company car.
Testing laboratory in Hrabová
An integral part of the entire development process is the testing phase. That’s why, in 2020, a new laboratory was established in Ostrava-Hrabová, serving as the central testing facility in Europe.
The lab is equipped with climate chambers, vibration devices, and a goniometer for measuring light values. It primarily conducts Product Validation—testing products assembled on the serial production line—as well as requalification tests.
The laboratory continues to grow. In 2023, it expanded with two chambers for electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) testing. The Ostrava testing facility serves customers from all FORVIA HELLA locations, primarily in Europe.
Olomouc
Spare parts production plant
In 2022, a production plant was established in Olomouc, replacing our plant in Horka nad Moravou. This new facility serves as the central plant for spare parts production. Production lines from FORVIA HELLA locations worldwide are relocated here once their serial production ends.
The plant handles both newer projects and older ones that began production more than 10 years ago. It also includes logistics warehouses. Currently, around 500 employees work at this facility. See more
Internally, we refer to this production site as PSS (Post-Series Supply), and it is located in the VGP Park near Hněvotín.
Loštice
IT Hub
In 2004, we established IT Shared Services in Mohelnice, which has undergone many changes and seen a significant increase in employees. In 2011, the IT Hub in Loštice was founded—essentially a small company within a company.
Our colleagues work in globally impactful roles across areas such as application development, business intelligence, manufacturing system implementation, and data analysis. With our IT specialists, we support all production plants worldwide. See more
We type away from the cozy space of a former kindergarten, working in a small team where you’ll feel right at home. You can even make use of the adjacent garden while working. And if you’re a fan of Olomouc cheese, you’ll love that its production facility is just a few meters from our offices!
